  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Butter or oil for cooking

Instructions

  • Gather all ingredients and prepare a large mixing bowl.
  • Sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  • Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  • Add the milk, melted butter, and egg.
  • Mix gently until the batter becomes smooth. Avoid overmixing for fluffier pancakes.
  • Heat a lightly greased griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot surface for each pancake.
  • Cook the Good Old-Fashioned Pancakes until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look dry, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
  • Repeat with the remaining batter.
  • Serve warm with butter, maple syrup, fruit, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Whole milk creates richer pancakes, but low-fat milk also works well.
  • You can substitute part of the flour with whole wheat flour for a heartier texture.
  • Serve with turkey ham, eggs, fresh fruit, or yogurt for a complete breakfast.
  • For dairy-free pancakes, use plant-based milk and dairy-free butter.
