Ingredients

  • Homemade or store-bought wontons
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1- inch piece fresh ginger minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 –2 tablespoons chili oil optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat sesame oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger and sauté until fragrant, about 30–60 seconds.
  • Stir in gochujang, soy sauce, and rice vinegar until well combined.
  • Pour in the broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or chili oil if desired.
  • Carefully add the wontons to the simmering broth. Cook for 5–6 minutes, or until they float and are cooked through.
  • Ladle the Wonton Soup with Spicy Broth into bowls and garnish with fresh herbs or scallions. Serve hot.

Notes

Add baby bok choy, spinach, or mushrooms for extra nutrition. Sesame seeds or a drizzle of extra chili oil make great finishing touches.
