White Sauce Penne Pasta

White Sauce Penne Pasta is a creamy, cheesy pasta dish made with butter, milk, and Parmesan.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 16-ounce package penne pasta (about 4 cups)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • Garlic salt with parsley flakes or salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese or additional Parmesan optional

Instructions
 

  • ook penne pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Stir in flour and cook continuously for another minute.
  • Gradually add milk and chicken broth, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens (about 5 minutes).
  • Add Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and melted.
  • Add cooked pasta to the sauce and mix well to coat evenly.
  • Stir in mozzarella cheese if using, until melted and creamy.
  • Serve your White Sauce Penne Pasta warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
