Ingredients

  • 1 medium cucumber peeled and grated
  • 1½ cups Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill roughly chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  • Peel and grate the cucumber.
  • Transfer the grated cucumber to a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth and press firmly to remove as much moisture as possible.
  • Add the drained cucumber to a mixing bowl.
  • Stir in the Greek yogurt, fresh dill, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and kosher salt.
  • Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Let the Tzatziki Recipe rest for 10–15 minutes so the flavors blend together.
  • Taste and adjust with extra dill, lemon juice, or salt if needed.
  • Serve immediately or chill before serving for an even fresher flavor

Notes

  • English cucumbers contain less water and fewer seeds.
  • Fresh dill can be substituted with fresh mint for a refreshing variation.
  • Serve alongside grilled chicken, lamb, falafel, roasted vegetables, wraps, sandwiches, or pita chips.
  • The flavor improves after chilling for a few hours.
