Tzatziki
Tzatziki is a creamy Greek yogurt and cucumber sauce flavored with garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil. This authentic Mediterranean dip is quick, refreshing, and perfect with grilled meats, vegetables, and pita bread

- 350 g 12 ounces Greek-style yogurt
- 1 cucumber
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 garlic cloves finely grated
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- Paprika for garnish
Peel the cucumber if desired, then cut it in half lengthwise and remove the seeds with a spoon.
Coarsely grate the cucumber using a box grater.
Place the grated cucumber in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze firmly to remove as much liquid as possible.
Transfer the drained cucumber to a medium mixing bowl.
Add the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and finely grated garlic.
Stir until everything is thoroughly combined.
Taste and adjust the lemon juice if needed.
Transfer the Tzatziki to a serving bowl.
Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
Sprinkle lightly with paprika before serving.
Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes before serving for the best flavor
- English or Persian cucumbers work best because they contain fewer seeds.
- For extra flavor, stir in one tablespoon of chopped fresh dill.
- Serve with warm pita bread, grilled chicken, lamb, beef kebabs, falafel, roasted vegetables, or fresh salads.
- This recipe also makes a delicious sandwich or burger spread.
