Wash the strawberries thoroughly and remove the stems.
Blend the strawberries until completely smooth using a blender or food processor.
For a smoother drink, strain the strawberry puree through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds.
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar with 2 cups of water.
Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves and the mixture comes to a gentle boil.
Remove from the heat and allow the simple syrup to cool to room temperature.
Strain the freshly squeezed lemon juice into a large 2-quart pitcher.
Add the cooled simple syrup and strawberry puree to the pitcher.
Stir well until fully combined.
Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
Just before serving, add 2½ cups of cold water and stir.
Taste the Strawberry Lemonade and add additional water if you prefer a lighter flavor.
Fill serving glasses with ice and pour over the chilled lemonade.
Garnish with fresh strawberries, lemon slices, or mint if desired.
