Slow Cooker Honey BBQ Drumsticks

Slow Cooker Honey BBQ Drumsticks are tender chicken legs cooked in sweet barbecue sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 pounds chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • cup honey
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce divided

Instructions
 

  • Place all drumsticks in the slow cooker in a single layer if possible.
  • In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, black pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and Cajun seasoning.
  • Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the chicken drumsticks.
  • Drizzle honey over the top of the seasoned chicken.
  • Pour 1½ cups of barbecue sauce over the drumsticks, coating them well.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  • Preheat the broiler. Transfer drumsticks to a foil- or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Brush with the remaining ½ cup barbecue sauce and broil for a few minutes until caramelized and slightly crisp. Watch carefully to prevent burning.

Notes

  • Serve with coleslaw, roasted vegetables, or mashed potatoes.
