Oatmeal with Fruit & Nuts

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • ¼ cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup chopped apple
  • 1 tablespoon walnuts toasted if desired

Instructions
 

  • Add the old-fashioned oats and skim milk to a small saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over high heat.
  • Reduce the heat to medium.
  • Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the oats become tender and creamy.
  • Remove from heat and cover.
  • Let the oatmeal stand for 2 minutes.
  • Transfer the oatmeal to a serving bowl.
  • Top with Greek yogurt, chopped apple, and walnuts.
  • Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • Plant-based milk can be substituted for dairy milk.
  • Fresh pears, berries, or bananas work well as fruit alternatives.
  • Double the recipe easily for multiple servings.
  • For overnight oats, prepare the mixture the night before and chill.
