Ingredients
  

For the Beef

  • 1 pound lean ground beef 90% lean
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For Serving

  • 2 cups hot cooked white or brown rice
  • Sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions
 

Cook the Beef

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ground beef and minced garlic.
  • Cook while breaking the beef into crumbles.
  • Continue cooking until the beef is browned and no longer pink.
  • Drain excess grease if necessary.

Make the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked beef.
  • Stir until the beef is evenly coated.

Simmer

  • Let the mixture simmer for 1–2 minutes.
  • Cook until the sauce slightly thickens and coats the beef.

Assemble the Bowls

  • Divide the cooked rice among serving bowls.
  • Spoon the Korean ground beef over the rice.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve immediately.
