Honey Garlic Shrimp – Quick & Healthy 20 Minute Dinner

Honey Garlic Shrimp is a quick seafood recipe made with shrimp, honey, garlic, and soy sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce reduced sodium recommended
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger optional
  • 1 lb medium uncooked shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Chopped green onion for garnish optional

Instructions
 

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger until well combined.
  • Divide the sauce mixture in half. One portion will be used as a marinade and the other for cooking.
  • Place the shrimp in a large sealable bag or container and pour half of the sauce mixture over the shrimp.
  • Toss the shrimp to coat and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes, or up to 8–12 hours.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet and discard the used marinade.
  • Cook shrimp for about 45 seconds on one side until they begin turning pink, then flip them over.
  • Pour in the reserved honey garlic sauce and cook for another 1–2 minutes until the shrimp are fully cooked and coated in the sauce.
  • Serve the Honey Garlic Shrimp immediately with the sauce and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

This recipe works well with rice, quinoa, or noodles. For a slightly thicker sauce, you can mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch with a little water and add it to the sauce while cooking.
