- 1½ cups heavy cream
- 1½ cups whole milk
- ⅔ cup cane sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ⅛ teaspoon sea salt
In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, cane sugar, vanilla extract, and sea salt.
Warm over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, whisking frequently until the sugar dissolves completely.
Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a heatproof bowl.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Once chilled, whisk the mixture again until smooth.
Pour into your ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer instructions (about 20–30 minutes).
The Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream will have a soft-serve consistency at this stage.
Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 2–4 hours for a firmer texture.
Serve and enjoy.
- Substitute cane sugar with honey or maple syrup if desired.
- Serve with fresh fruit, cake, or warm desserts like brownies.
- For a richer taste, increase cream slightly and reduce milk.
