Ingredients

  • 3 teaspoons salt or more to taste
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 pounds cubed steak sirloin or New York strip
  • 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon browning sauce optional
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Garlic Butter

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 2 tablespoons parsley chopped
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For Garnish

  • Chopped parsley
  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix the salt, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and paprika. Divide the seasoning mix into two equal portions and set aside.
  • In another bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt. Mix until smooth to create the garlic herb butter. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, add the cubed steak. Pour in Worcestershire sauce and browning sauce if using. Sprinkle half of the seasoning mixture over the steak and toss until evenly coated.
  • Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the diced potatoes and parboil for about 5–6 minutes until they begin to soften. Drain and allow them to cool slightly.
  • Place the potatoes in a bowl. Add the remaining seasoning mixture and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Toss until evenly coated.
  • Heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and sear for 5–7 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove the steak and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the seasoned potatoes. Cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes become golden and tender.
  • Return the steak to the skillet with the potatoes. Add the prepared garlic herb butter and toss everything together until melted and evenly coated. This final step brings together the classic flavor of Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and red pepper flakes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute Yukon gold potatoes with baby potatoes or red potatoes if needed. For extra vegetables, add mushrooms, green beans, or bell peppers during the final cooking stage. Serve with a fresh salad or roasted vegetables for a balanced meal.
