Cuisine Italian-American
- 1 lb linguine pasta
- 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
- 1 lemon juiced and zested
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.
While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
In the same skillet, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
Add lemon juice and lemon zest to the sauce. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat.
Add the drained linguine to the skillet and gently toss everything together. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time if needed to loosen the creamy shrimp linguine sauce.
Stir in fresh parsley and serve immediately while warm.
- Linguine works best, but fettuccine or spaghetti can also be used.
- For extra spice, increase the red pepper flakes.
- Serve with garlic bread or a crisp green salad.
- Fresh parsley can be replaced with basil for a different flavor profile.
