Ingredients

  • 8 ounces baby gold potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place the baby gold potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 5 minutes, or until they are just tender enough to smash.
  • Transfer the potatoes to a baking sheet or flat work surface. Using the bottom of a small glass, gently press each potato until it is approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. For crispier potatoes, smash them slightly thinner without breaking them completely apart.
  • Brush the tops of the potatoes evenly with melted butter. Season with salt, garlic powder, and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Arrange the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single, even layer. Leave a little room between them so hot air can circulate properly.
  • Air fry for approximately 10 minutes, or until the Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes are crisp and beautifully golden around the edges.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

Baby red potatoes can replace baby gold potatoes if needed. Olive oil is also an easy substitute for melted butter.
