Ingredients

  • 4 large pita pockets whole wheat or regular
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted (or coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or coconut sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pita Bread
  • Cut each pita pocket into 8 equal triangles by slicing it in half and then cutting each half into quarters. Carefully separate each pita into two layers if possible to create thinner, crispier chips.
  • Make the Cinnamon Sugar
  • In a medium bowl, combine the cinnamon, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until evenly blended.
  • Coat the Pita
  • Brush each pita triangle lightly with melted butter or coconut oil. Place the pita pieces into the cinnamon sugar mixture and gently toss until every piece is evenly coated.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
  • Air Fry
  • Arrange the coated pita triangles in a single layer inside the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  • Cook for 6–8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking. Watch carefully during the last minute since pita chips can brown quickly.
  • Cool and Serve
  • Transfer the Crispy Air Fryer Cinnamon Pita Chips to a wire rack and allow them to cool completely. They will become even crispier as they cool.
  • Serve immediately or store for later.

Notes

  • Whole wheat pita adds extra fiber.
  • Coconut oil is an excellent dairy-free substitute for butter.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar after cooling for a sweeter treat.
  • These chips also pair well with fresh fruit and cream cheese dips.
  • Double the recipe easily for parties or gatherings
