Creamy White Lasagna

Creamy white lasagna is a rich baked pasta dish made with white sauce, cheese, and layers of noodles.

Ingredients
  

Lasagna:

  • 1 lb beef sausage halal substitute for Italian sausage
  • 9 oven-ready lasagna noodles
  • 4 –6 strips turkey bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

White Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups half and half or milk + cream
  • 1 cup chopped spinach optional
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

Cheese Sauce:

  • 15 oz cottage cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • Cook the beef sausage until browned and set aside. Cook turkey bacon and crumble.
  • In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook briefly.
  • Add butter, let it melt, then whisk in flour to form a roux.
  • Gradually add chicken broth, stirring continuously until thickened.
  • Stir in half and half, salt, pepper, and spinach. Simmer until creamy.
  • In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, egg, parmesan, and mozzarella.
  • Assemble the creamy white lasagna: layer noodles, meat, white sauce, and cheese mixture. Repeat layers.
  • Finish with mozzarella on top.
  • Bake covered for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake 15 more minutes until golden.
  • Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can prepare this dish ahead and refrigerate before baking.
  • Serve with garlic bread or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
