Cinnamon Apple Yogurt Bowls

Ingredients
  

  • 1 sweet apple peeled, cored, and diced (Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • tablespoons raw sugar
  • 1 tablespoon golden raisins
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 cups plain nonfat yogurt
  • 4 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions
 

  • Add the diced apple, raw sugar, raisins, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a small saucepan.
  • Cover and cook over low heat for 16–18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and fragrant.
  • Remove from heat and allow the apple mixture to cool slightly.
  • Divide the yogurt evenly between two serving bowls.
  • Spoon the cinnamon apple mixture over the yogurt.
  • Sprinkle with chopped walnuts or pecans.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Pecans can be substituted for walnuts.
  • Brown sugar may replace raw sugar for a richer flavor.
  • This recipe works well with pears instead of apples.
  • Make the apple topping ahead of time for quick breakfasts throughout the week
