Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread is a moist quick bread made with ripe bananas, flour, butter, eggs, and chocolate chips.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 3 medium to large very ripe bananas about 1 3/4 cups mashed
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips divided

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  • Cream butter and sugar
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy.
  • Add eggs
  • Add the lightly beaten eggs and mix until fully combined.
  • Mash the bananas
  • Mash the ripe bananas with a fork until they reach a chunky applesauce consistency.
  • Mix the wet ingredients
  • Add the mashed bananas and vanilla extract to the mixing bowl and mix until well blended.
  • Prepare the dry ingredients
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Combine the batter
  • Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir until just incorporated.
  • Fold in chocolate chips
  • Gently fold in about 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips.
  • Transfer to the pan
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake the banana bread
  • Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool the bread
  • Let the Chocolate Chip Banana Bread rest in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Frozen bananas work well after thawing.
