  • teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon fresh lemon zest
  • cups chopped rotisserie chicken or leftover chicken
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the garlic bread on the baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until lightly crisp.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle 1½ cups shredded mozzarella evenly over the bread. Set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt butter with olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add heavy cream, salt, black pepper, cayenne, basil, and oregano. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  • In a small bowl, whisk egg yolks with ¼ cup of the hot cream mixture to temper them.
  • Slowly pour the tempered yolks back into the saucepan, whisking continuously.
  • Simmer gently until slightly thickened. Add Parmesan cheese and whisk until melted and smooth.
  • Stir in fresh lemon zest.
  • Spread chopped chicken evenly over the garlic bread.

  • Bake for another 15 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
