  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • ½ cup sliced dill pickles
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

For the Burger Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 –2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Onions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a large skillet over high heat.
  • Add the sliced onions and cook for 4–6 minutes until softened and lightly charred.
  • Transfer onions to a plate.

Cook the Beef

  • Reduce heat to medium-high.
  • Add the remaining teaspoon of oil and ground beef.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes, breaking the beef into small crumbles.
  • Stir in mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Continue cooking for 2 more minutes until flavorful and browned.
  • Remove from heat.

Assemble the Sliders

  • Without separating the rolls, slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally.
  • Place the bottom half in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Layer ingredients in this order:
  • American cheese slices
  • Cooked onions
  • Ground beef mixture
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Dill pickles
  • Place the top half of the rolls over the filling.
  • Brush melted butter over the tops.
  • Sprinkle evenly with sesame seeds.

Bake

  • Cover tightly with foil.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 12–15 minutes until cheese is melted and tops are golden.

Make the Burger Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, and mustard.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve alongside the sliders or drizzle over each sandwich before serving.
  • These Cheeseburger Sliders are best enjoyed warm while the cheese is perfectly melted and gooey.

Notes

  • Hawaiian rolls add sweetness that complements the savory beef.
  • Use sharp cheddar for extra flavor.
  • Pickles provide a classic cheeseburger tang.
  • For a spicy version, add sliced jalapeños.
  • Sliders are ideal for parties and game day menus.
