Caramel Apple Cupcakes Recipe

Ingredients
  

Apple Spice Cupcakes:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup finely chopped apple

Caramel Buttercream:

  • 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter room temperature
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 –6 tbsp caramel sauce
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon

Toppings:

  • Caramel sauce for drizzling
  • Apple slices for decorating

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, beat butter, oil, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla extract and sour cream; mix well.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition.
  • Add half of the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  • Pour in milk and mix until smooth.
  • Add remaining dry ingredients and mix gently.
  • Fold in chopped apples.
  • Fill liners 3/4 full and bake for 15–18 minutes.
  • Cool completely on a wire rack.

Buttercream:

  • Beat butter until smooth.
  • Add half the powdered sugar and mix well.
  • Add caramel sauce and mix.
  • Add remaining sugar and beat until fluffy.
  • Frost cupcakes and drizzle with caramel sauce.
