Baked Pita Chips with Za’atar

Baked Pita Chips with Za’atar are crispy homemade chips seasoned with olive oil and authentic Middle Eastern spices.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large pita breads white or whole wheat
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons za’atar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper or cayenne pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line two baking sheets with foil or parchment paper.
  • Lightly spray the baking sheets with cooking spray.
  • Using kitchen scissors or a sharp knife, cut each pita into small triangle-shaped chips.
  • Place the pita triangles in a large mixing bowl.
  • Drizzle with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle with za’atar, salt, and pepper.
  • Toss thoroughly until all pieces are evenly coated.
  • Arrange the pita chips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
  • Serve immediately or store for later.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
  • Great addition to mezze platters.
  • Can be broken into larger or smaller pieces depending on preference.
  • Za’atar blends vary, so adjust seasoning to taste.
