Ingredients

  • Chicken
  • 2 pounds chicken breasts or boneless chicken thighs cubed
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Red chili flakes to taste
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour
  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets or chopped asparagus
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Honey Garlic Sauce
  • ⅓ cup tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 6 garlic cloves grated
  • 3 –4 tablespoons gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with olive oil.
  • Place the cubed chicken on one side of the baking sheet. Season with garlic powder, black pepper, and chili flakes. Sprinkle the flour over the chicken and toss until evenly coated. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons olive oil and toss again.
  • Add the broccoli or asparagus to the other side of the baking sheet. Toss with the remaining olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • While everything cooks, whisk together the tamari, lemon juice, honey, grated garlic, gochujang, green onions, and sesame oil until smooth.
  • Remove the vegetables from the baking sheet and set aside. Pour the sauce over the chicken and gently toss to coat every piece.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to caramelize beautifully over the chicken.
  • Serve the 30 Minute Honey Garlic Chicken with the roasted vegetables, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, and extra green onions. Pair with steamed rice, quinoa, or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Tamari makes this recipe gluten-free when paired with gluten-free flour.
  • Broccoli can easily be replaced with asparagus, green beans, or Brussels sprouts.
  • For extra sweetness, drizzle a little additional honey just before serving.
  • Brown rice, jasmine rice, cauliflower rice, or noodles all make excellent side dishes.
