In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
Add the hot water and vegetable oil. Mix with your hands until a soft dough forms and all liquid is absorbed.
If the dough feels sticky, add flour 1 tablespoon at a time until soft but not sticky.
Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead about 10 times until smooth.
Divide dough into 12 equal balls and flatten each slightly into a puck shape.
Lightly flour both sides of each piece, cover with a towel, and set aside.
Heat a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat.
Roll one dough piece into an 8-inch circle and place it in the hot pan.
Cook for about 1 minute, flip, and cook another 30 seconds until golden spots appear.
Transfer to a towel and keep covered while cooking remaining tortillas.
